Frequently asked questions
Is there a deductible or depreciation with Laka?+
No. With Laka, you pay no deductible and no depreciation; for an approved claim, the value of your bike is reimbursed without any deduction for age.
Which lock should you use for your e-bike or cargo bike?+
Outdoors, you must secure your e-bike or cargo bike with an ART-2 lock. In postcodes with an elevated theft risk, two ART-2 locks are required, of which at least one must not be a ring lock and at least one must be used to attach the bike to a fixed object.
Where are you insured with Laka?+
By default, in the Netherlands and within the EU up to 48 hours across the border per trip, provided you travel only overland. Optionally, you can add Worldwide Coverage for trips up to 120 days abroad.
How do you file a claim with Laka?+
All claims must be submitted via app.laka.co by clicking the '+' button or 'Add claim'. Do this within 28 days of the incident and include photos, a description and (for theft) the police report number. For bike insurance policies, Laka also requests a video statement.
Do you get a replacement bike after theft or breakdown?+
Yes. After an accident or theft, you are covered by roadside assistance with a reimbursement of up to €200 for a loaner bike or taxi.
