# Every frame number check now also checks Stop Heling

One check now shows you instantly whether a bike is registered as stolen with BIKEBAZE or with the Dutch police. We automatically check Stop Heling as well: free and without an account.

## The situation

Until now, looking up a frame number took several steps: checking BIKEBAZE and Stop Heling separately, each on its own website. Right when you are about to buy a bike, or when a situation feels off, you want a quick answer. In practice, many people therefore only checked one of the two registers, and a bike that was listed as stolen only in the other register went unnoticed.

That is why we merged the two checks: one input that queries both registers.

## What we built

Your check now automatically also runs through **Stop Heling**: the official register of goods reported stolen to the **Dutch police**. It works through an official API integration. When you check a frame number or battery number with BIKEBAZE and there is a match, you instantly see:

- whether it concerns a **bike or a battery**
- which **police unit** in the Netherlands registered the theft
- the **year the theft was reported**

The report year shows whether the theft was reported recently. With a recent report it is extra important to contact the police; that is when the victim has the best chance of getting the bike back.
